As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Customs Specialist to strengthen our customs team in Liège, Belgium.

About the role

As Senior Customs Specialist, you will be the on-site customs expert within our Liège e-HUB. You will play a key role in ensuring that our customs operations remain fully compliant with Belgian and European customs legislation while acting as the primary point of contact for the Belgian Customs authorities during operational matters, inspections and authorisation-related activities.

You will work closely with our Compliance, Operations and Technology teams and maintain professional relationships with the Belgian Customs authorities. You will help ensure that customs controls, inspections and operational questions are handled efficiently and professionally.

This is a hands-on position where operational knowledge, sound judgement and practical problem-solving are equally important. You will have a visible role within the organisation and contribute directly to the continued development of our customs operations.

Your responsibilities

  • Act as the on-site customs specialist for our Liège operation.

  • Serve as the designated on-site representative during Customs visits and inspections ensuring professional communication with the Belgian Customs authorities and providing immediate operational support.

  • Handle day-to-day customs operational matters and customs-related inquiries.

  • Support customs inspections and coordinate customs controls.

  • Liaise with Belgian Customs authorities in a professional and constructive manner.

  • Ensure compliance with Belgian and European customs legislation and internal customs procedures.

  • Monitor customs processes and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Support internal and external audits and customs authorisation requirements.

  • Investigate customs incidents and coordinate corrective actions.

  • Provide operational guidance and customs advice to warehouse and operations teams.

  • Ensure accurate customs administration and record keeping.

  • Work closely with the Compliance, Operations and Technology teams to continuously improve customs processes.

Job requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in customs operations, customs compliance or customs brokerage.

  • Preferably a customs training program recognised by the Belgian customs authorities or authority within the EU

  • Experience as a Customs Declarant or Customs Specialist.

  • Knowledge of the Union Customs Code (UCC) and Belgian customs legislation.

  • Experience with customs authorisations, customs audits or customs controls is considered a strong advantage.

  • Professional customs qualification is a plus.

  • Experience within logistics, freight forwarding or e-commerce is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with customs software and Microsoft Office.

  • Fluent in English and French, both spoken and written.
